About this course

Have you explored painting with my Pushing Paint Part 1 but want to gain more skills and confidence? Or maybe you have experience of working with oils but want to know more about working with Oil and Cold Wax Medium?

This is the next stage and will provide a structured and informed approach to this amazing way of painting.

Content includes; materials and surfaces, colour choices, tools and how to use them, viscosity and drying times, creating texture in wet paint, revealing with tools, masking and shape making, using stencils and more.

You have the opportunity to share your work and interact with other students on the specialist course platform (not Facebook).

These courses are not about painting abstractly, or to encourage you to paint like me. They are about building your skills with Oil and Cold Wax medium so that you can make YOUR paintings with confidence.

Course FAQs

WHEN DOES THIS COURSE START?

This is a self-paced Level 2 course which means it can be started as soon as you sign up. On enrollment, you will be provided with access to all content immediately. You can work through the classes at your own pace.

IS THERE INTERACTION?

The course has a forum where you can share your work with other students taking the the course. I drop by occasionally to see how everyone is getting on. Unlike my scheduled courses I am not following your progress but you can always email me at sally@sallyhirst.co.uk if you have a question.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME?

As long as you like! I have planned the courses based on two weekend workshops (4 days) in my studio. But unlike an in-person workshop you can leave layers to dry to get the best out of the media, and you get lifetime access to the content and can revisit it anytime. I recommend you take at least 2 weeks to do each course working for 4 hours a week.

CAN I PAY IN ANY CURRENCY?

Of course! The payment is set in GBP as I am in the UK but when you pay it will convert to your own currency.

Payments are made via Stripe, a safe and secure payment platform, using a debit or credit card.

HOW TO I ACCESS THE COURSE?

You will be asked to register on the teaching platform Ruzuku. That is where the course lives.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT?

The classes are delivered in video format via the online platform Ruzuku. There is over 6 hours of video content in total, and additional content in the form of downloadable PDF’s.

WHAT INTERNET CONNECTION WILL I NEED?

To get the most out of the class you need to have a high speed internet connection and newer computer or mobile device that is equipped to stream video off of the internet.

WHAT LEVEL ARE THE CLASSES?

These classes on this course are Level 2 and are suitable for those who have experience of making art. Ideally you will have some experience of using Cold Wax Medium and/or oil paints. I run a course for complete beginners Pushing Paint Part 1 which is self-paced and the perfect starting  point! If you are unsure then email me.

WHAT SUPPLIES WILL I NEED?

There is a supply list for each workshops giving details of the materials you will be using.

Is there an online community?Yes, all class participants have the option of joining the Pushing Paint Gallery Forum within the course structure which is on the Ruzuku site. There you can share your work if you wish to do so and see the work by other students.  You will also receive support from your fellow artists.

DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS?
