Tetra Etcetera

Recycle, repurpose, recreate!

A self-paced course that will enable you to learn how to use Tetra Pak®, cardboard boxes and other boxes to create fabulous intaglio prints.

About this course

Designed for the complete beginner or anyone wanting to learn a new approach to intaglio printmaking! This course will show you how to create original prints from start to finish by using easily accessible and recycled materials such as Tetra Pak®, cardboard boxes and other boxes. Learn to engrave, incise and texturise your plates, and then ink and print with them. I will also teach you how to add colour with monotype techniques. You can read my blog post about my journey into the world of boxes here.

It’s the perfect partner to my Level 1 scheduled course Discover Collagraphy, and as preparation course to take before heading to Part 2 of COMPLETE CREATIVE COLLAGRAPHY

You have the opportunity to share your work and interact with other students on the specialist course platform (not Facebook).

Please note: You will need access to a rolling action press. I use CRAFT DIE PRESSES they retail from £70 and can be bought even cheaper on eBay. To find out more, and see video of them in action click here.

Includes 38 videos and 6hrs tuition

“Thoroughly recommend Sally’s workshops. They are so well thought out and Sally communicates so clearly. I have been painting for years but doing Sally’s courses are such an inspiration and I am learning so much.” Meg

What will I need?

Whilst its possible to get a print with the back of a spoon, to get the most out of the course I recommend you use a press. This can be a regular etching press or a craft die cutting machine. I will also be showing how you can use a pasta machine. This is possible as the box plates we make are thin enough to squeeze through!

CRAFT DIE CUTTING PRESS: I use a Sizzix Big Shot Plus and an Xcut Xpress. If you use either of those you can use the A4 bed it comes with, but if you want a longer print you will need to adapt it by using a longer bed. The Sizzix also needs hardboard or mountcard to pack the bed up to reach the roller for pressure. Click here for a video about these presses.
