Pushing Paint Part 1

Discover Painting with Oil and Cold Wax

A Level 1 self-paced course that will enable you to start using this amazing media.

About this course

You may have heard of Cold Wax Medium and wondered what all the excitement is about? Perhaps you want to try it but have never painted with oils and wouldn’t know where to start?

On this workshop you will be shown how to create a painting from start to finish with just three colours plus white, and using only four basic tools.

I will also share with you just a few of the many techniques and tips I have to enable you to create work with  amazing texture and depth. By choosing one of three palettes you will learn how to mix colours, build layers and textures, giving you the confidence to keep exploring. In addition you will create a series of four, small abstract pieces.

You have the opportunity to share your work and interact with other students on the specialist course platform (not Facebook).

What this course is not

This course is not an Encaustic painting workshop. Cold Wax Medium is not heated, it is used cold mixed with oil paint to impart a rich buttery texture and speed drying time.

Why choose me to teach you?

I am a highly qualified and experienced tutor…but more than that I can teach, teach well and I love it! As a leading authority in Cold Wax Medium in 2019 I was invited to write an article for Jacksons Art. You can read it here.

I hope this will be one of many workshops you take with me, all we be exciting, thought provoking and packed with information. I am known for my endless curiosity and hope that “What if….?” becomes your mantra too! Find out more about me here.
